Real Southern Quote – 5.27.11

Today’s Real Southern Quote comes to us from RSM Wayne Franklin. More specifically, it comes to us from his father, Terry.

Terry was raised largely by his grandmother, along with help from his mother and a whole cadre of aunts. And they all made sure he darkened the church door every Sunday morning – even if it took a whipping to get him there. Terry, however, was more practical than pious:

“Every Sunday they’d give me a quarter to put in the basket. I’d put it in there, but I’d always get change. They weren’t getting my whole quarter.”  -Terry Franklin

Today is Terry’s 69th birthday. (Happy Birthday, Dad!)
