Be a Real Southern Man #2

Welcome to your virtual manual for becoming a Real Southern Man.

Today’s how-to tip is something almost any man can do. That is, unless he is a monk, attending an all-male school or living as a nomad in the steppe lands of Central Asia and sleeping on a bedroll under the wide open sky.

Today, we want you to…

Hold the door open for a lady.

Remember: it’s not your business to determine who is a lady and who isn’t.  Your best bet is to treat every woman like a lady. As one RSM reader put it, “a real Southern man treats you like you’re the only person in the room, even in a room of 100.” Now some women may take offense, feeling you are an affront to their feminism. Just smile and say, “Ma’am, I’m not doing this because you’re a woman. I’m doing this because I’m a Real Southern Man.”
