First, let me apologize for the lack of post the last week. RSM Kris Wheeler and I (this is Wayne, by the way) have been burning the midnight oil, the noon oil, the 3 am oil and every other kind of oil to complete our film, Duke & The King. If you’re going to be in Nashville on April 22nd, come to our premiere at the Nashville Film Festival! Now, back to business…
The first half of the Sweets Sixteen faced off last week, and here are the results:
Pies, Cobblers & Dumplings
#1 seed Pecan Pie moves on to the Elite Sweets Eight by knocking off personal favorite Key Lime Pie with 62.5% of the vote.
The 2-seed Peach Cobbler took out Chess Pie with 68.75% of the vote.
Cakes, Puddings & Ice Cream
The top seeds continue to roll as #1 seed Nanner Puddin’ easily dispatched #5 Chocolate Cake by a 75%-25% margin.
The lone upset of the round so far was #2 seed Southern Pound Cake being knocked off by #6 Red Velvet Cake. This is clearly a case of style over substance.
Now to pick the next four teams to move on to the Elite Sweets Eight:
Hand-Held Treats
Miscellany
